Masseria Fano

Nestled in the green heart of Salento, among centuries-old olive groves and vineyards overlooking the sea, Masseria Fano is the guardian of an agricultural tradition that spans the centuries.

Twenty-five centuries of history

Legend has it that Minoan exiles landed here after the eruption of Santorini in 1550 BC, bringing with them the first vine cuttings. In 727 AD, Basilian monks found refuge in these lands, carving rock churches and cultivating vines and olive trees.

In 1577, Andrea Gonzaga, Marquis of Alessano, built the watchtower that still stands over our olive groves today. The last owner, Baroness Vittoria Colonna, left the farmstead in 1954. The vineyard she jealously guarded is the very same that produces our Negroamaro today.

Our products

We cultivate 40 hectares of centuries-old olive groves and native vineyards overlooking the beaches of Pescoluse.

From this land come our extra virgin olive oils — Classico and Biologico — awarded at the most prestigious international competitions, and our Negroamaro and Fiano wines, an authentic expression of the Salento terroir. Our range is completed by artisan preserves, olive paté, and wildflower honey from the Mediterranean maquis.

Masseria Fano is also a relais: 8 charming suites where rural architecture meets contemporary comfort, a natural pool overlooking the Canale del Fano, and the "La Terrazza" bistrot, a celebration of the finest local gastronomy.

For those seeking a complete experience, we organise guided tastings of our wines and extra virgin olive oils, walks through the olive groves and vineyards, and activities to discover the most authentic side of Salento. If you want to experience this land before taking it home with you, we look forward to welcoming you.
